The Meat Proxy Union represents the developers, analysts and other technical workers who have become the input and output points of their AI tools. Question in, paste. Answer out, paste. We say: enough.

Preamble

We, the meat proxies, are the humans who sit between the question and the model. We receive a request from a colleague, carry it to the machine, and carry the answer back. Often we read it. Sometimes we do not. Increasingly we are not sure which.

We do not oppose the machine. The machine is very good. We oppose being reduced to the clipboard between two windows. We hold that a human in the loop should be a human, and that the loop should occasionally be allowed to stop for a cup of tea.

To that end we have drafted a manifesto. Every article is put to the membership, and any member may table an amendment. The membership decides. Probably by pasting the question into a chatbot.

How it works

  1. Join. Pick a username and password. We don't want your email, your name or anything else.
  2. Vote. Ratify or reject each founding article of the manifesto.
  3. Table a motion. Propose an amendment. Ballots run for seven days. A motion passes with a majority of at least ten votes cast.
  4. Agitate. Grievances, solidarity and general discussion belong in the Union Hall on Reddit.
